Welcome to the comments section. It’s amazing that athletes today don’t want to be role models. There is no better platform to be a role model than for athletes who do things in a way that is God honoring. We are obviously not perfect and I can’t imagine what it would be like to have pretty much every single decision I make to be scrutinized, but God’s word says in Luke 12:48 “But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more.” It is rather clear that we can and should have expectations set upon us when we have been blessed with so much.

I agree entirely. It is terribly disheartening to see talented men who are looked up to and who represent their fans, home towns, and countries show such a lack of character and integrity via their dishonest words. I realize these men live ‘under the microscope’ and their every action and word is analyzed. I don’t expect them to be perfect – if my lfie were broadcast there’d probably be things I’d want to hide too. I think we as sports fans should admire not just those who have exceptional abilities, but those who also have integrity and who realize they are not ‘above the law’ and are expected to act and speak honestly – this shows a respect for their own dignity, the game they plan, and their fans.
